No matter how old a Ftc consent order is, should you break it you're certain to pay a pretty stiff penalty. Just ask the folks over at 2 day diet new version ICON Health & Fitness Inc. who decided to pay millions of dollars in penalties for still make deceptive weight reduction claims in exercise equipment advertisements.

The FTC announced today that ICON pays $3 million to stay charges it violated a 1997 consent order by advertising that use of the Pro-Form ab Glider just for three minutes each day would result in significant weight reduction. (Shockingly those claims aren't true.)
Based on the FTC's latest complaint [PDF] from the company, since a minimum of August 2010 and through June 2013, ICON ran several advertisements making weight-loss claims for that ab Glider.
Ads included video infomercials on tv, on ICON's website and on social networking networks. The ads often featured television personality Elisabeth Hasselbeck and many consumer endorsers claiming that using the ab Glider for just three minutes a day would result in lost pounds, inches and clothing sizes.
(Sounds similar to the Ab Circle Pro, right? You remember, the unit we said in regards to a few months ago that supposedly magically makes your face - er, waist - smaller?)
The FTC discovered that none of the consumers featured in the advertisements actually shed their pounds just by three minutes of labor on the glider. Instead, the FTC revealed most effective and quickest had subscribed to a controlled diet, used the device for more than 3 minutes a day and performed additional exercises to shed weight.
Because ICON couldn't substantiate the advertised resulted were solely from using the glider for three minutes each day, the FTC charged it with violating a 1997 order from the company.
That order, stemming in the company's deceptive marketing of the Pro-Form Cross Walk meizitang strong version Treadmill, required ICON to aid weight loss claims with competent and reliable scientific evidence.
